South African politician (born 1964)
Lentheng Helen Mekgwe (known as Ntombi Mekgwe; born 21 October 1964) is a South African politician who was Speaker of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 2014 until 2024.
Before that, she was a Member of the Executive Council (MEC) in the Gauteng provincial government from 2010 to 2014 and the third Mayor of Ekurhuleni from 2008 to 2010. She is a member of the African National Congress (ANC).
Born on Gauteng's East Rand, Mekgwe was Mayor of Nigel from 1995 to 2000 and then served as Speaker of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Council from 2001 to 2008.
